CPS Events at The Plaza is a joint venture between Great Performances, New York’s prestigious event and catering company, and Delaware North Companies, one of the world’s leading hospitality and foodservice providers who opened the landmark Grand Ballroom in January 2008 and have signed a 25-year lease with Elad Properties, owner of The Plaza, to operate and manage the Grand Ballroom, the Ballroom Foyer, the Terrace Room, and the new meeting spaces.
Since the reopening of The Plaza, it is CPS Events’ mission to deliver a new standard in catering and service that pays proper homage to the world-famous property while honoring a commitment to sustainability. Under the leadership of Executive Chef Chris Harkness, Plaza menus have elevated fundraising galas, luxury weddings, and corporate events with exceptional cuisine including fresh produce from Great Performances’ own Katchkie Farm.

CPS Events has gone all out to ensure The Plaza’s culinary team, including Chef Chris Harkness, play a role in making every event that much more special… and delicious. Our team will customize The Plaza’s menus to match your event, your tastes and your desires.

The Plaza is the first major entertaining and event venue in the country to incorporate the 100 mile “field-to-fork” concept into their catering menu. CPS Events introduced this concept in early 2008, with menus featuring ingredients that appear on the ballroom’s tables within 36 hours of being harvested. Chef Chris Harkness

The Plaza’s Chef Chris Harkness oversees all culinary operations at the fabled hotel and demands his team be capable of crafting exquisite meals and menus for even the most discriminating palate. Chef Harkness is a master at combining flavor, texture, taste and presentation to create cutting-edge culinary masterpieces. He studied at the Culinary Institute of America and worked in restaurants around the country. Chris Harkness directs an 85-person culinary team that creates culinary works reflective of The Plaza’s honorable tradition.

Katchkie Farm: Our Passion Starts from Seed

Great Performances, the leading New York City catering and event company, has acted on its passion for local and organic produce by partnering with Katchkie Farm. In this ground-breaking agreement, the farm will provide The Plaza with more than 27 varieties of produce that will be used to develop culinary creations for our one-of-a-kind parties and events.
